We're here to announce the immediate availability of SabLink 0. If you really enjoyed GenLink, this is just another step closer to a new Gentoo based system for your Buffalo NAS device.Linux Kernel 3.3.8
with BFQ iosched, UKSM (memory de-duplication), linuxIMQ, Layer7 and vserver support are just some of the new packages you will find in this release.Micro evtd 3.4.2
supports the Pro & Terrastation at once (no useflag change required), The init script is split into 2 parts: micro-evtd-boot (should be added to boot runlevel) and micro-evtd (should be added to default runlevel)
At this early stage (alpha software the reason for the 0) we are only providing an upgrade path from Genlink to Sablink.The Supported Devices will be:

this install expects that you have connected the hd to pc
extract genlink onto second partition
mount the first partition into the boot dir of the second partition
extract the correct kernel from http://pkgs.sablink.nas-central.org/sta ... rmv5tel/0/
sys-kernel:linux-buffalo_xx_xx into the second partition (there are also 3.5.7 kernels in the tree they dont work do not use them)
create links in the boot dir for the kernel and initrd
initrd.buffalo -> uIninitramfs-genkernel-arm-3.2.34-buffalo_xx_xxx.buffalo
uImage.buffalo -> uImage-genkernel-arm-3.2.34-buffalo_xx_xxx.buffalo
then boot and follow the genlink howto starting from http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Gen ... 22lspro.22
When everything is working you can move from genlink to sablinkhttp://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Gen ... k_for_ARM9
Yes I know, complicated but for the next release Sablink 1 everything will change (depends on the donation)Support us:
If you believe we've done a great job, please donate to Nas Central. They are hosting the Package repositories and the upcomming DiskDump ImagesFAQ:Q:
It does not boot ?A:
plz post or create a ticket on the sablink bugtracker containing the log of the serial output (yes add a seriel connection to your device)Q:
Why don't you provide some ready to use images ?A:
It's intended for the next release. The creaton of images requires space on the development device; but the HD broke so plz donate Q:
My device is known to work with a newer kernel so could you plz update ?A:
Maintaining different versions of the kernel is a maintenance hell so we keep the versions of the kernels in sync. This will ease the workflow and give us the time to work on other parts.Q:
What the hell is Sablink?A:
Sablink is Sabayon for the Buffalo Linkstation, it is like Gelink but with the great binary package system from Sabayon.Known Limitations:
The initrd is a std genkernel initramfs so no recovery support is there
sys-apps/micro_evtd is not automatically moved to sys-apps/micro-evtd needs to be done manually (equo remove micro_evtd; equo install micro-evtd)
blstools still not updated to the /sys/gpio or /sys/event system (a new udev based system would make sense)
bad use flags for some packages
not too many packages are there (just the ones that where in the genlink BINHOST repository)What to expect from the next release!
Multi Device disk dump images supporting MBR/GPT u-boot at once containing all the kernels just need to set the right for boot
initial work on recovery system (requires attached serial)
Hotplug Buttons for the new kirkwood based devices (udev rules)
