Hi

After using davy_gravy's 2.6.29.1 for almost a year without any problems, my LS LIVE has startign failign to boot. The symptoms are that after about 5 mins the linkstation fails with a 4 red LED flashes (ROM error I think). I have reinstalled the root and boot fs from backup, with no success. I have run e2fsck on the filesystems and they are clean.

In order to see what was going on I have also installed u-boot 1.4 with netconsole. The log at boot shows:
Code:

There are no more messages after this point. I am now at the end of my skill to diagnose what is happening here so I would really welcome any help you can give to try and point me in the right direction to resolve the situation.

Many thanks

Hi,

I have now copy the root and boot partitions of another LS LIVE that I have, and the symptoms remain the same. Given that I have now reflashed uboot (using dd), and rebuilt the boot and root partitions, I can only assume that there is another hardware problem with the device. Any ideas?

Should I start again from scratch and rebuild the device?

Thanks

I've just started comparing the netconsole log with the log from my other machine and I never see the line:
Code:
Adding 506008k swap on /dev/sda5.  Priority:-1 extents:1 across:506008k

This seems to be significant, but I don't know why or how to fix it!

I never did get to the bottom of this but got my Linkstation back up and running by restoring from the rootfs supplied with davy_gravy's kernel.
