Hi,

Where did the FreeLink_arm9-1.0rev2 kernel come from?

uImage.buffalo (from: http://downloads.nas-central.org/LSPro_ARM9/Distributions/Freelink/FreeLink_arm9-1.0rev2.zip) has these characteristics:
Code:
size: 1942020 Date: Dec 5 2006 md5sum:069cff210edf679136bfe2f2b168d01e
Linux version 2.6.12.6-arm1 (root@Desktop) (gcc version 3.4.4 (release) (CodeSourcery ARM 2005q3-2)) #77 Tue Dec 5 22:23:46 CST 2006
The stock Buffalo kernels (i've found so far) have these:
(From: http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org/LSPro_ARM9/StockFirmware/Stock/ls-gl_100-042.zip)
Code:
size: 1790920 Date: Jun 11 2006 md5sum:eb0ee64e16ac528295d7543028d976ca
Linux version 2.6.12.6-arm1 (root@develop) (gcc version 3.4.4 (release) (CodeSourcery ARM 2005q3-2)) #75 Sun Jun 11 14:33:24 JST 2006
(From: http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org/LSPro_ARM9/StockFirmware/Stock/LS-GL_FW_103.zip)
Code:
size: 1790760 Date: Aug 8 2006md5sum:4f1b7e52aa4cdc3b3233276c90674ab7
Linux version 2.6.12.6-arm1 (root@develop) (gcc version 3.4.4 (release) (CodeSourcery ARM 2005q3-2)) #33 Tue Aug 8 17:16:04 JST 2006
(From: http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org/LSLIVE_ARM9/StockFirmware/HS-DHGL_103_002R_us.zip)
Code:
size: 1790940 Date: Oct 4 2006 md5sum:bfc3d14869172fc3cff480eb966748eb
Linux version 2.6.12.6-arm1 (root@localhost.localdomain) (gcc version 3.4.4 (release) (CodeSourcery ARM 2005q3-2)) #79 Wed Oct 4 13:37:40 JST 2006
After that, Buffalo v1.10 firmware switched to 2.6.16.16.

Although the freelink kernel is 2.6.12.6, it is bigger and has a different compile timestamp from all of these stock Buffalo kernels. Was is specially compiled for Freelink from the Buffalo GPL source with a tweaked config? Were there other versions between 1.03 and 1.10?

Thanks,
Alan.

I found it here: http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org/DEVELOPMENT/arm9-LS_Pro/Freelink/Etch/Development/kernel/uImage_with_netconsole_not_built_in and this post indicates it was built by jonli447. This thread also seems to be related.

Alas, there's no config file, and it's not really clear from the threads exactly what was configured in. Does the config file still exist or has it been lost in the mists of time?

Thanks,
Alan
