I have amel version of Freelink running kernel 2.6.16.57-lsp_eabi-dh_v4. I followed the instruction at http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Enc ... with_EncFS to setup a encrypted directory. It installed fine but when I mounted the encfs directory the system locked up. Do you know what's wrong with that?

fuse is compiled as a module in that 2.6.16.57 kernel, so it should work, but I have never tested it.
Maybe you should try another fuse filesystem (not EncFS) to test if the module is working.

I can load the module fine and mount the file system well. The problem is the process hang when I try to access the fs.

weikai@LS-LIVE:/etc$ lsmod
Module Size Used by
fuse 33836 2
nfsd 103412 13
nfs_acl 3072 1 nfsd
jfs 193796 1
encfs /data/.data/locked /data/public/locked
The directory "/data/public/locked" does not exist. Should it be created? (y,n) y
EncFS Password:
weikai@LS-LIVE:/public$ ls Hang right at here because ls is accessing enfs

weikai@LS-LIVE:/etc$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
tmpfs 62M 20K 62M 1% /lib/init/rw
tmpfs 62M 4.0K 62M 1% /dev/shm
rootfs 2.9G 731M 2.0G 27% /
/dev/sda1 282M 22M 246M 8% /boot
/dev/sda6 1.4T 595G 798G 43% /data

Hang at here as well and ctl-c, ctl-z can't break out it. Have to close putty

I had the same problem with this particular kernel. I would not use this solution but Either Armel Lenny with a 2.6.2X+ kernel or possibly FooNAS with the more updated kernel. Encfs works fine for me on Debian Lenny with such a Setup

Lenny for LSPro

Lenny for KuroPro

edit: I updated my article to reflect that

I swithced to a newer kernel and it worked fine.

Acctually, I found 2 problems on kernel 2.6.16.57-lsp_eabi-dh_v4 so far. 1. Permission issue on NFS 2. Issues on Encfs.
