I have 2 linkstions, LS1 and LS Live (with ls_worm's ARMel image). I copied passwd and group files from system to system so the user names and uid are same. Before I upgrade to ARMel I can mount nfs file system /mnt on LS1 with sudo mount ls1:/mnt /mnt/disk1. After upgrade I can still mount nfs file system /mnt on LS1 with sudo mount ls1:/mnt /mnt/disk1 but when I cd into /mnt/disk1/home/username I got access denied error. Even thought the directory owner is the current user I logged in I just don't have access to it. Did any body have this issue?

Code:
weikai@LS-LIVE:~$ df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
tmpfs                  62M   20K   62M   1% /lib/init/rw

Did you copy the shadow passwd and group files too?

Hmm! It looked like it was kernel issue. I switched to davy_gravy’s uImage-2.6.26 and it worked fine. That was weird. I used to use kerneal uImage-2.6.16.57-lsp_eabi-dh_v3 and uImage-2.6.16.57-lsp_eabi-dh_v4 before I upgraded to ARMel and it worked fine.

The permissions did not look right. Why was the sticky bit set? should have tried chmod u+rwx,g+rs to see if it changed.

It's not the permission on the directory. I took off sticky bit but it did not make any different.

Code:
weikai@LS-LIVE:/mnt/disk1/home$ ls -al
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 11 root     admins    118 Jun  1  2008 .
drwxr-xr-x 19 root     root     4096 Dec 24 18:46 ..
drwxr-x---  5 admin    admins    137 Feb 28  2006 admin
drwxr-xr-x  2 ftp      nogroup    24 Jun  1  2008 ftp
drwxr-x--- 13 weikai   weikai   4096 Dec 30 09:50 weikai
weikai@LS-LIVE:/mnt/disk1/home$ cd weikai
-bash: cd: weikai: Permission denied
weikai@LS-LIVE:/mnt/disk1/home$

Thats odd then if a simple kernel change fixed the issue?

yes, switching to davy_gravy’s uImage-2.6.26 fixed the issue. I don't know why uImage-2.6.16.57-lsp_eabi-dh_v4 worked fine on old freelink but not on ARMel.

It has probably got an old OABI library built in or something similar.
