I also saw libvorbisenc and added it in that batch

Ouch. That's a problem, probably the moment to start compiling your own ushare (or use my non-DLNA version, v2 IIRC).

Will your non-DLNA version, v2 IIRC work with a ps3? I'll give that a try if you think it will. I'm in the middle of a few other projects any attempt at compiling my own ushare would have to wait so I could get some time to read up on compiling things myself.

Thank you for testing them all. I don't have any real UPnP device myself, so I can't answer the question whether the PS3 would work or not.

Later today, I will split the ushare package in two, a DLNA and a non-DLNA version. The latter has got libupnp as its only dependency, the former the plethora of libraries. The docs will be adjusted as soon as I find the time to do so.

The libraries will give you a head-start when trying to compile your own version. I can provide the missing headers, if any, aswell, just tell me what you need.

Ok, the ushare split is complete.

What about the eth0 problem on the Tera, do those affected actually have a default route?

I'm at work now when I get home I'll see if I can reflash my terastation to clean up the stuff from previous attempts and try the non dlna version.

as for the eth0 issue. There's an earlier post above of what my routes were set at if that looks right to you. From my searching it looked like a common problem using ushare on anything that people would either not set the config file to use the proper adapter or not have a route set up. I think I did both of those.

The eth0 errors went away when I started getting the dlna library errors. Not sure if it's because something finally got fixed with that or the missing libraries caused the errors earlier in the startup sequence before networking was even tried.

starting back over again after a nice firmware update clearing things out

using the non-dlna version I needed to add libixml and libthreadutil

and then I'm right back at the beginning with not finding eth0

ok first I did some random testing...of course the first ip's I picked to test didn't work and confused myself a great deal. But eth0 has to work because i can connect out to other things.
looking at /usr/local/bin/ushare with a hex editor. Right where that error I'm getting is listed it mentions using ioctl. If this is how ushare interfaces with eth0 that could be the issue I don't see ioctl in my bin directory

Thanks for the hint about the libs.

You should compile libupnp and ushare/non-DLNA from scratch: ioctl used in too many places in the kernel source tree, also in Perl. Maybe the configure script will sort it out. Test my compilation instructions, will you please.

I see itimpi has ppc-tools-2_1.tgz would that have compiler that would work. And how would I install it. I don't see any directions

If there are no instructions, it's probably just "tar -C / -xvzf *tgz".

ok tools got installed and I started to run through and the first time I went over what my log was buffering so I had to run it a second time to get the text. since it's a huge amount here are links to txt files of what happened.

when I ran make install the first time there was much more output..the second time with the log expanded to catch it all there was much less output so I may need to clean it all up and try it again to get a full log of that

I decided to try to just use the precompiled libupnp and compile just ushare and it works and starts up!! and my laptop detected the server right away. now to play with some config options and see if I can make it useful

From the bit of testing I've done. A ps3 will see the ushare server and the directory structure but all the files say they can't be played

If in xbox compatability mode an xbox360 will see ushare and will play movies..however it seems music won't work. as with the ps3 the folder structure is viewable but when you pick a song it says it's not compatible

and a funny note even with the server working..you get an error from ushare as it starts that eth0 is down

It looks like "sort" and "uniq" are not present on your system. I shall put them up for download later today.

The enhanced busybox package from my web site provides these commands.

Having said that, you may prefer to go for the GNU core utils package from there which provides the full GNU versions of these utilities and many more.

You probably also want both the libraries (both standard and developers) packages to get a number of standard additional libraries installed.

Thanks for the help everybody...but I need to take a week or so off from playing with all this. There are a few projects I need to work on that are far less interesting....but they pay the bills for toys like terastations and ps3's. When I get a chance I'll get those recommended downloads and get back to work on it.
