So I tried upgrading as described [url=http://www.sysadminslife.com/linux/howto-upgrade-debian-6-squeeze-zu-debian-7-wheezy/[/url], which is slightly different than what the official release notes say. But the first steps are the same, and of course I don't upgrade the kernel package, because I'm using lechner's 2.6.35 kernel from this forum. So let's start by changing in /etc/apt/sources.list: s/squeeze/wheezy/g
. Then apt-get update
. And in the next step I encountered an error, which is during the "minimal upgrade" process (apt-get upgrade
Errors were encountered while processing:
No details and no other error messages. But actually I expected an error like this, because the upgrade instructions already said that I should upgrade udev separately (after apt-get upgrade). So I thought that upgrading udev now (apt-get install udev
) might solve this issue. But it did not - another error occured:
chmod: cannot access `/dev/tty[0-9]*': No such file or directory
Now this error seems to come from makedev again, which is now being used as a fallback or additionally to udev in the upgrade process. But since the upgrade of udev (and the restart of the udev daemon) was okay, I am still hoping that removing makedev is not causing trouble later on, so my solution was:apt-get purge makedev
Now I finally could finish the upgrade successfully (so once again: apt-get upgrade
). And /dev/tty is there.
The next step apt-get dist-upgrade
run without any problems at all. Yay!
