Hello,

Would someone please point me in the right direction? I am unable to test the RAM version of shihsung's U-Boot 2009.06 before flashing (and the one I compiled, for that matter).

The purpose is to flash shihsung's U-Boot version 2009.06 and, ultimately, install ramp's kernel 2.6.32.16.

Ramp's kernel cannot be booted directly because LNI's U-Boot 1.1.4-1.0.1 did not support uImage. My attempt to strip the uImage header with 'dd bs=1 skip=64' also did not make it boot.

My LS2 runs Debian squeeze under davy_gravy's kernel 2.6.30.5. It is also flashed with foonas-em.

The RAM version of U-Boot 2009-06 (shihsung's version 2) either does not boot, or I can't see anything via netcat. For my version, which was compiled natively, I fixed the big-endian problem, adjusted the start of the text section to 0x81000000 and changed the IP addresses to 192.168.11.150 and 192.168.11.149, respectively.

I am using 'ext2load ide 0:2 81000000 /boot/u-boot.elf' and 'bootm 81000000'.

Adjusting the start of the text section seemed necessary because it kept looking at 0x8cf00000.

Is there another way to run the RAM version of shihsung's U-Boot? Perhaps there is a way via uloader.o (which I can't seem to find for kernel 2.6) or foonas-em?

Thank you for your help,
Felix

Don't know if this will help, I had that problem when first using shihsungs uboot. I had to compile netcat ion order to see it, check:

Thank you for the response. I think the problem occurred because the ram version loads itself to 0x83f00000. That is also the address the older one was running at. I recompiled to load at 0x83000000 and that worked great. I now have 2009-06 installed.

I also compiled u-boot-2010-12 but am still struggling with sluggish communication when trying to stop autoboot.

Pending your suggestion last year, I flashed my LS2 with foonas-em. To make that work again, I repackaged it as in u-boot format.

Now I am trying to update the kernel, and possibly foonas-em. Ramp's 2.6.32.16 runs great, but I cannot figure out how to recompile it. I built 2.6.35.9 from http://www.linux-mips.org and applied shihsung's patch (from "Converting to Lenny"). Unfortunately, none of his kernels boot on my box.

Have you seen a kernel patch Ramp might have worked with for 2.6.32.16 (other than LNI's old one for 2.6.22)?

Felix
