250 gig - not sure what type whatever buffalo shipped as factory.

Kuro - it may not actually need a fan - the one in it still functions just its very loud!! :-)

Just got to find a box to pack it and get to the po to find how much it will cost to ship.

I have subsequently found the original box, as it appears the first destination will be the US can anybody advise me on what the current shipping regs ar for the US.

Wouldnt want it to be blown up as a suspect device :)

cheers

make sure you mark it as a gift with $0 value. I got a bill from some company for import duty on a Tera HS that someone marked as having a value of $624 and I can't get it reversed. Looks like I might have to tell them to....

If a later 2.6 kernel is finally ported to the ls2 - could you please consider - compiling in the modules for usb sound cards and the driver for USR 9600A usb phone (skype, tesco etc compatible)?

Id still love to be able to use the unit as a standalone phone / exchange with asterisk.

growlley...our 2.6-kernel policy is to compile the kernel with all stuff definitely needed for the board + usb-subsystem + NFS compiled in....and all the rest which is possible to compile will be compiled as modules.

so believe me....when we get to a 2.6-kernel on the LS2, all possible modules will be compiled.

a small status-update for you:
the LS2 arrived at kuroguys house. he currently lacks some headers so he can prepare JTAG + serial for jonli447. he does not seem to have a local store which sells something like that. thats why i am sending him a package with many pin-headers in 1 hour....and besides: await some news from LNI regarding UBoot for the LS2 soon :)

Being lazy I didnt really want to have to chase up the postoffice.

@andre: i c. what else is compiled into the kernel? or do you mean that you have everything as modules?

i know nearly everything is compiled as a module....but meant all kernel modules "reasonable" to compile for the linkstations are compiled. of course there is no support for all things that you will never have a chance to connect to the Linkstations. thats at least how i compiled the 2.4.33.3 kernels.

I think this is a great idea too, infact I followed the tutorial, but never got it up and running.

mindbender: May one could just use my .config as a basis. What's compiled-in should make the LS fully operational (such as [EOU}HCI, NTFS r/w, VFAT, USB printing -- the 'core functions') while keeping the modules optional. At least that's how I've always handled it.

ok...my misunderstanding.

i meant it that way. everything thats needed is compiled in. everything else is a module. thats the best approach anyway.
