The bootloader only works with stock kernels. Either install a stock kernel, or use uboot. All this is documented

Hello andre!

Thank you for your answer - but - I am a complete newbie - for understanding:

I 'd need the nfs-optimised kernel in order to use it with my d-box for recordings.

Would it be possible to use the combination:

touch /boot/variant-nfs
touch /boot/variant-uboot
touch /boot/variant-legacy

or should I uninstall u-boot ?`

What do you mean with stock kernel - kernel 2.4 ?

Please give me some advice to see everything clearer, because studying the docs didn't helped me!

Best regards

Josef

don`t uninstall uboot. its much better than the original bootloader.

Code:
touch /boot/variant-uboot
touch /boot/variant-nfs
touch /boot/variant-legacy

sounds right to me as you want the optimized NFS kernel for the uboot bootloader. the question is....is it the NFS kernel available for uboot?

Debian 2.6.18.dfsg.1-22etch2 plus tonyo's flashing patch

I think this my first 'real' Debian kernel with the kurobox, melfs, and tonyo patches. At least, the upstream 2.6.18.[1-8] patches didn't apply to the already patched source.
