The kernel was compiled out of the SVN tree from Sourceforge without modifications using the same config which run stable on 2.6.23.

Hi igs,
I had a quick look at your trace, and it's a problem with a "feature" added by buffalo in the raid code.
I've checked in the code, and I see no reason why it should not work with 2.6.24 kernel ... Is your system still running "correctly" ?
What you can do is to replace the drivers/md/md.c file with the vanilla one that you can get here : https://linkstationwiki.svn.sourceforge ... vision=336

I'll check if there is any changes in the sysctl table check code ...
Sylver

are there any updates regarding 2.6 kernels on terastations or are we all waiting for a UBoot on the terastation/terastation pro v1?

teaser: LNI told me that his HG uboot works on a TeraHS.

Great :)
The current kernel is working on the TsP v2, the only thing I suspect is that Micon V2 driver may be broken (which will not prevent from booting, it will just prevent the LCD screen to print some informations).
But it's still in the old arch (ppc), it not in the powerpc arch ... (I don't know which arch lni is expecting)

as i can boot the foonas kernel + dtb file i suppose the ppc kernel works with the HG uboot.

hi guys,
just one simple question: is it possible to make a terastation pro v1 boot the 2.6.21 kernel (via loader.o) every time i power it on (not by manually inserting loader.o, rebooting the box and so on) ??
i'm sure this is possible, but i don't have the right idea at the moment...

Hello bwpm !
You can add a little script that will check if the running kernel is the stock kernel (2.4.x), if so, it will insmod/reboot !
Next time it'll boot, it will check what version is running and as it will be a 2.6, i'll not insmod/reboot !

You wouldn't need a script that differentiates in the way Sylver proposed, as kernel 2.6 won't load 2.4 modules anyway ;) Instead, the script could check for the existence of a control file the script can touch and remove at need, so you won't get into endless loops on 2.4 if something goes wrong when trying to load 2.6

Please note that, as I sold all my PPC boxes, I'll not be able to maintain this "universal PPC devices" kernel ...
Good luck,
Sylver
PS : if anyone wants to maintain this, please tell it here and ask an admin to be included in the sourceforge project ...
