Hi,

I have a Terastation and bought 4 1tb drives for it. Since there are no PATA 1TB drives i bought sata ones and sata2ide converter.
Now i have disassambled the TS and switched one drive with a sata drive.
Due to limitations it is only recognized as a 585gb drive.
I think i have found a way to go a round this problem by using the webinstaller.
But there is still a catch: http://hvkls.dyndns.org/downloads/documentation/README-kernel-variants.html#tera.
The problem with these sata2ide adapters is that they have to be directly connected to the idecontroller.

Is there a way to boot from usb instead?
If not, is it possible to use 3 HDs for the raid in recoverymode then boot from the 4th as described in the link and add some kernelmodule that allows the boot from raid then move the kernel to the raid and rebuild it?

(as you can see i'm quite desperate for a solution ;) )

Thanks for any ideas

Yassir

If you want to use my pre-compiled kernels, they work with Compact Flash IDE media according to user reports, I don't have a Tera to test them myself.

If you need a custom kernel, there's Sylver's code for PPC Link- and Terastations. https://linkstationwiki.svn.sourceforge ... universal/
