Hi,

I'm currently trying to setup rsync (via ipkg) for my LS2 with openlink 0.52b.
Unfortunately ipkg bricked my LS2 (6x blinking DIAG). Only telnet still works (and also ipkg command etc.) but e.g. "ls" command fails and tells me:

root@HD-HLAN20C:~# ls
ls: relocation error: /lib/libpthread.so.0: symbol __libc_stack_end, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld.so.1 with link time reference
root@HD-HLAN20C:~#

I thought the ipkg library from Alexander Skwar can be used for the LS2? Hmmm....

Did anybody still managed to install rsync on the LS2 and can guide me? (... after I have somehow recovered the white brick hopefully).
I hope this rsync will work with the synology 207+ network backup function. Does anybody have experience with that?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards
Thomas.

Best regards
Thomas.

OK. After installing compiler environment I finally compiled rsync.

After a long search in the internet there are still two questions open: How to setup /usr/local/bin to $PATH and in which configuration file I have to enter the "rsync --daemon" command to start it with every Linkstation boot automatically.

Thanks.

Best regards
Thomas.

PS: I still did not get the rsync working with synology Diskstation207+'s Network Backup function. Seems to be a login/password issue - hope I can get some hints from Synology forum....

Could you please make the binaries available for download, so I can add them to our download section?

As to you questions,

echo "export PATH=${PATH}:/usr/local/bin" >> /etc/profile # only once, then log out and in

cd /etc/rc.d/rc2.d && ln -s /etc/init.d/rsync S20rsync
cd /etc/rc.d/rc0.d && ln -s /etc/init.d/rsync K20rsync
cd /etc/rc.d/rc6.d && ln -s /etc/init.d/rsync K20rsync

Besides, try

rsync -avze ssh /local/dir/ user@remotehost:/remote/dir/
