Hi!

Does anyone know of a Samba 3 .ipk package for the mipsel LS2?

Thanks,
Alexander

I don't think anyone's tried this. and it's for an entirely different machine based on a MIPSel. but it might be worth a try to install some of the other .ipk files and see if they work.

http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/wl500g

this was from a feed that had PowerPC packages that seem to work on an LS1 OK..

currently there does not seem to be a working feed for the LS2 (mipsel).

there are some feeds here:
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/OptwarePlatforms

but the problem is that the mipsel feeds are udlibc.based....and the LS ig glibc based.

currently i would answer this with no.
but if the ppc-feed really works completely, then we may create a feed there for the LS2. this will take some time of course.....but it will be great then...

just wait some time.

compiling the latest samba3 from source is quite easy.

Yes, you're right it's quite easy - but QUITE time intense ;) I built samba3 last night, and it took "only" about 480 minutes

Would you package it for us?

@askwartemp:
it would be great if you would do that. andre & i would compile it, but we do not have access to Mipsel-Linkstations.

I packaged and compiled it. I also added a link to the "List of ipkg feeds for the LinkStation" wiki page - http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.php?title=List_of_ipkg_feeds_for_the_LinkStation

I've got one problem with the "samba-doc" package, though.

Code:
root@HD.bei.digitalprojects.com:/mnt/hda/packages/unstable# ipkg install samba-doc
Installing samba-doc (3.0.23a-9askwar) to root...
Downloading file:///mnt/hda/packages/mipsel/unstable/samba-doc_3.0.23a-9askwar_mipsel.ipk
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
package samba-doc suggests installing samba-doc
ipkg: Unknown typeflag: 0x4c: Illegal seek
ipkg: Don't know how to handle /./@LongLink: No such file or directory
Configuring samba-doc
Successfully terminated.

I've created the .ipk file with "/usr/local/ipkg-utils-050831/ipkg-build -c" and without -c. Any ideas?

Thanks,.
Alexander

maybe you try it with the latest ipkg-source?

http://www.handhelds.org/download/packages/ipkg/

i am not sure if the last version (0.99.163) will compile...but give it a try. if not then try an older one.

you already have the latest ipkg-utils:http://www.handhelds.org/download/packages/ipkg-utils/

i cannot test your package as it is a mipsel one...i really need one....

Nice. As you might have noticed, I also packaged it and made it available on my feed at http://alexander.skwar.name/~askwar/linkstation/packages/mipsel/

then it should get into the list of feeds for the LS2. can you upload a tarball/package for the latest ipkg as well?

i am sure there are some out there that want to use your feed, but do not know how they should install ipkg.

inside the /etc/ipkg.conf i would only use your ipkg-feed...i do not remember the one from nix....

hey, if you like then you can get access to the normal ipkg-webspace at http://ipkg.nas-central.org/

then you won`t have to host all packages on your own.
