EDIT: actually i am primarily not discussing about the wiki itself. the forum and the downloadsection are the main problem. linkstationwiki.net comes to my mind again for both maybe. both were there before.

I think that gets confusing. I would like to see the downloads and forums links track the wiki links. If the wiki is Buffalo, then the forums and downloads should also be Buffalo in my opinion. Downloads and posts applicable to Kurobox and Terastation would be hard to find if they were buried in a forum or site named only for Linkstation. They don't have to include nas-central in their URL, but whatever they are, I would prefer it if they at least appear to be co-located.

I agree - especially as many of the downloads are common to LinkStation, KuroBox and TeraStation models. The linkstationwiki download area had specifically been restructured to reflect this commonality.

That suggests using something like:
downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org
and
forums.buffalo.nas-central.org

I also see no reason why other domains such as
linkstationwiki.net
kurobox.net
terastation.net
should not also be retained and point to the relevant URL's under the buffalo.nas-central.org hierarchy.

so here are the options for the vote so far....i think this vote is very clear now.

Question:
We need to move forum & downloadsection away from forum.nas-central.org & downloads.nas-central.org because both are totally buffalo centric and other devices should not get mixed into them. What option do you prefer?

1) forum.linkstationwiki.net & downloads.linkstationwiki.net
2) forum.buffalo.nas-central.org & downloads.buffalo.nas-central.org
3) something else
4) indifferent

can anyone else please update the poll if this is ok?

mindbender: That's just the forum and downloads, whats happening with the wiki? It was said at the beginning of this thread that it is definitely moving away from buffalo.nas-central.org so what is it moving to?

I don't care about you or your LTK soccer team, quit spamming me with emails.

I didn't make an account last April to get soccer spam from you, I made an account to post a question. I answered it myself using Google and the Wiki. I appreciate the help, but I'm tired of getting your "we're losing our identity" spam and believe me, whatever you want me to vote on, I don't care about it and I doubt you'd find that most of your user-base cares either.

Have a nice day.

Every name is fine as long as it doesn't carry MIPSel in it. One could mistakenly think this box would be covered here, which is clearly not the fact. ;)
And I always fall for the same trick to believe on updates, but, well, my fault. *hrhr*
So stop sending mails mindbender, we dont even have the same box, do we? You're not interested in mine, so i'm not in yours. Guess that sums it up quite good.

kthxbye

Unfortunately phpBB3 has no "Only send emails to the people who care" button. At least yet. :p

Toss the 3 emails you've gotten from the forum in the trash, and have a nice day!!

First, on topic: my vote goes to buffalo.nas-central.org

Then, slightly off-topic as the initial thread that started all this is locked:
I can recognize the pains of growth. I saw them before in a few in a few companies I used to work for, I see them now in this community. The reality is that you don't manage a large community (or company) the same way you manage a small one. I see the segregation of devices by manufacturer as the first small step in the right direction. But I believe that there is much more to be done. Mindbeder pushed us all on a new path and only time will tell if the new path is good or bad. All I can say now is that the new path will be more difficult that the path which led us here.

Something else. Can we not have nas-central.org/buffalo? If not, then buffalo.nas-central.org would win by default but its a bit of a mouthful.

If so would the forums and downloads become nas-central.org/buffalo/downloads and nas-centrl.org/buffalo/forum?
