Its official.

We are nas-central.org now.

linkstationwiki.net was inappropiate as we are merging with kurobox.com and terastationwiki.org...and we had to choose a new name for our community. initially we wanted to use the static page from http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a0025690/ ... nites.html only as a portal page for all existing nas-communities....but this still would have been a problem for the merge of our three communites.

Also we had to choose a new name now in the initial setup stages of the new server at OSUOSL. Later it would have been much harder to change the domainname.

thats why we decided to move from linkstationwiki.net/kurobox.com/terastation.org to http://nas-central.org.

we will use the static page mentioned above for linking to other nas-hacking-communities, i spent 2 days discovering all existing nas-communities in the world.

Why have we chosen to do so?
Because 80 % of the current NAS-Devices are based on the arm9-CPU...the arch which our kernel-devs are working to port the latest kernel from http://kernel.org .

This newly created central place should get many communities a little closer together...I am sure this will channel development efforts so we can pull together on the same rope without having to reinvent the wheel all the time!

Lets celebrate :biglol:

EDIT: updated the wrong domain names in this posting :)

:p

It's sad to see linkstationwiki.net go (though we still are keeping the domain), but it's time to move forward.

Just a name, but still it's a sad. As there are so many links pointing to, c/shouldn't we redirect linkstationwiki.net to nas-central.org? Would it be too expensive, or undesirable?

@andre,

Yeah, I setup some apache redirects, so now http://bugtracker.linkstationwiki.net, http://www.linkstationwiki.net, http://linkstationwiki.net, and http://forum.linkstationwiki.net urls now point to their respective nas-central.org url. It seems to do well, and now google shouldn't complain that nas-central.org is a site-copy of linkstationwiki.net (I originally had linkstationwiki.net and nas-central.org actively serving the sites, but it was not resource-wise, and google wasn't happy). We also have linkstationwiki.net till 2009.

Frankly, I think we should continue to keep linkstationwiki.net indefinitely. (maybe I'm still attached :P). I can foresee some uses for the domain, outside of site-redirects to nas-central.org. For example, we may use it for mailing lists, or perhaps a sub site, a linkstation specific ipkg feed, who knows. I personally am just not ready to completely say good bye to linkstationwiki.net. :) For now though, it is keeping the old url links on other sites alive.

keeping linkstationwiki.net/terastation.org/kurobox.com or not is no question for me.

ALL links from other pages like slimdevices.com/tuxbox.org/i-have-a-dreambox.com/WHATEVER link to those 3 domains. we would be stupid if we would just cut them off. then they at least find the way to the new community.

of course we will keep them indefinitely.

thx for creating the redirect. it works very well.

when finished merging with kurobox.com and then afterwards with terastation.org we should create redirects for both as well.

I tried to get ftp access to the new server to upload some TeraStation firmware, but kept getting challenged for username/password (the ones that worked on the old server). If I go to the old server by IP address I can still get in there! Have these settings been carried across or do they they need setting up again?

Since the switch to nas-central.org I wasn't receiving forum notifications anymore. I checked my logs and it is because the messages come from www-data at nas-central.org, and since it's a non deliverable address (nas-central.org doesn't have an mx record and it isn't accepting connections at port 25) I rejected them.
I now whitelisted nas-central.org, but it would be nicer for the forum notifications to come from a verifiable address.

No surprise this was posted 9/11 :|
Does it mean that the dedicated site kurobox.com is dead, as it seems to be?

well, linkstationwiki.net is as well.

it was a logical move as most stuff applied to the linkstations as well. but everything from the wiki i think got moved over:
